These machinations are unnecessary. Just raise the cap.
I’m wondering if the SS tax can be lowered. Eliminate the cap entirely. Or place it, for now, at a trillion dollars, two trillion for a married couple.

All these breathless gimmicks are totallu innecesssary. Just
a) decide what benefits you want SS recipients to have
b) pay for that (and Medicare, ACA, Medicaid, unemployment insurance, SNAP) with a consumption VAT
c) since b) is not progressive, tax personal consumption progressively (at levels to reduce the deficit to the level of public investment)
